PutingTupa featured Artist - Edible Smoke Recess

Listen to their song “Nyctophobia”

ESR is a Laguna-based trio that emerged from an unorganized group named “Spoonful”. When the band disbanded in Feb 15, 2006, Don Victoria decided to name their newest music as “Picnic of the Edible Smoke Recess”.

After releasing this self-titled EP, they continued their efforts in finding gigs and recording more tunes to their satisfaction. Until “Go Get It” was born, a debut album that was financed from their own pockets..

But spending money doesn’t stop there, it was just the beginning of the so-called Independent Sacrificial Life.

A Music Review from Mega Magazine Nov. 07 Issue by Rome Jorge quips:

"Not a lot of people get what punk is. Not the young kids who worship Emo (meaning “emotive” punk) bands of today because they weren’t born yet when Talking Heads, the Ramones or the Clash defined the genre in the 70s or when Lou Reed, Iggy Pop and David Bowie prefigured the music in the 60s or even when Nirvana finally broke through the mainstream in 90s. But Edible Smoke Recess does. They even get Emo right.

Their song “Bus Ride” rocked the airwaves. The rest of their album doesn’t disappoint either. Heavily influenced by Nirvana local punk greats such as Philippine Violators and Wuds, their music bears the attitude of Sonic Youth and Helmet but with out the overbearing seriousness. This is music that a rocker can truly enjoy. “My Emo Song” combines catchy hooks, brawny guitars, drums and plaintive and pained vocals with ironic witticism. "

Korn on Hold

Korn has announced that they will be taking an extended break and will not begin writing their new album until next year.
Frontman Jonathan Davis has assured Korn fans that they will not have to worry about the band splitting up or being away for too long.

Jonathan Davis states: "We've been going fifteen years and we need to just chill out for awhile. And you know me, I got to keep playing, I got to keep writing music so I don't go crazy, so I decided it would be a perfect time to do this. It's not like a hiatus or anything, we're still all good, it's just when everybody's ready, we'll get back together and go do it. We just need to recharge our batteries and get hungry again." -

Metallica's Golden Weekend

There is definite excitement in the rock world over the release of Metallica's new album "Death Magnetic," in fact you can say the band had a "golden" weekend with predictions that the effort will reach gold status within the first few days of the album hitting stores. But that isn't the only Metallica news from this past weekend. Here are some highlights:
Blabbermouth reported on Saturday: Metallica's "Death Magnetic" is on track to sell around 500,000 copies in its first, shortened week on the streets, according to sources cited by Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS. more
Meanwhile, they are making noise outside of record stores. BW&BK reports that Metallica's ninth studio album, Death Magnetic, came out Friday and is already a record setter in one aspect. Last week's FMQB radio broadcast, The World Premiere of Death Magnetic, was heard on 175+ stations across the United States and Canada, setting a new bar for clearance levels of an FMQB Productions event.more
Metallica's European record label Universal Music cancelled the band's interview with the Swedish newspaper Sydsvenskan last week after one of the paper's writers admitted in his review of Metallica's new album that he illegally downloaded an alternate version of the CD via the Internet.
Also on the Euro front: Metallica's new album, "Death Magnetic" has entered the UK chart at position No. 1 — ahead of Scottish band GLASVEGAS' self-titled debut, which came in at No. 2. The original release date for "Death Magnetic" was last Friday (September 12). However, the METALLICA album was released early, with shops selling copies on Wednesday (September 10). more
Empty Box? Fans who purchase the UK pressed box set edition of METALLICA's "Death Magnetic" album may discover that there is no sound. That is because they forgot to put in the CD. They also forgot something else more
Last but not least, Blabbermouth has a whole series of "making of" videos posted containing clips from the album's recording sessions. View those - here
